Caregiver Wellness

Caregiver mental well-being is just as important as student well-being. To best take care of our children, we need to take care of ourselves. Below are a few resources provided by SJ's Psychiatric Social Worker specifically for parents and other caregivers.

El bienestar mental del cuidador es tan importante como el bienestar de los estudiantes. Para cuidar mejor a nuestros hijos, debemos cuidarnos a nosotros mismos. A continuación se presentan algunos recursos proporcionados por el Trabajador Social Psiquiátrico de SJ específicamente para padres y otros cuidadores.

Income Loss?

California Employment Development Department Income Loss and Unemployment COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

If you have lost income due to COVID-19, please visit:
  • Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) (Employment Development Department)

Support services to individuals affected by COVID-19 in California:
  • Disability Insurance: For those unable to work due to having been exposed to COVID-19 (certified by a medical professional) (short-term benefits for eligible workers who have a full or partial loss of wages).
  • Paid Family Leave (PFL): For those unable to work to provide care for an ill or quarantined family member with COVID-19 (certified by a medical professional) (short-term benefits for eligible workers who have full or partial loss of wages).
  • Unemployment Insurance Claim:
    • School closure: For those unable to work to care for their child during school closure. Eligibility is determined by EDD; considerations include if the worker has no other care options and (s)he is unable to work normal hours remotely.
    • Reduced Work Hours: If your employer has reduced hours or closed operations due to COVID-19 eligible workers may file a UI claim. Partial wage replacement benefits for eligible workers who have lost their job or had hours reduced, through no fault of their own.

Servicios de apoyo a personas afectadas por COVID-19 en California:
  • Seguro de discapacidad: Para aquellos que no pueden trabajar debido a haber estado expuestos a COVID-19 (certificado por un profesional médico) (beneficios a corto plazo para trabajadores elegibles que tienen una pérdida salarial total o parcial).
  • Permiso familiar pagado (PFL): Para aquellos que no pueden trabajar para brindar atención a un familiar enfermo o en cuarentena con COVID-19 (certificado por un profesional médico) (beneficios a corto plazo para trabajadores elegibles que tienen una pérdida total o parcial de salarios).
  • Reclamación de seguro de desempleo:
    • Cierre de la escuela: Para aquellos que no pueden trabajar para cuidar a su hijo durante el cierre de la escuela. La elegibilidad está determinada por EDD; las consideraciones incluyen si el trabajador no tiene otras opciones de atención y ellos no puede trabajar las horas normales de forma remota.
    • Horas laborales reducidas: Si el empleador tiene horas reducidas u operaciones cerradas debido a COVID-19, los trabajadores elegibles pueden presentar un reclamo de UI.
